Why Turkey
Turkey is a beautiful country, with fantastic beaches, cosmopolitan cities, self-contained towns and gorgeous little fishing villages dotted along the extensive coast. Turkey, on the whole, offers excellent value for money; accommodation, travel, food and drink generally cost next to nothing. The country is famed for it’s rich cultural heritage, and the unendingly friendly people; wherever you visit, it’s a given that the locals appreciate the tourism and treat you as a long lost friend.
A popular holiday destination; in 2007 Turkey had more than 23 million foreign visitors, creating a tourism revenue of nearly $14 billion, and 2006 brought 19 million visitors to Turkey. The number of tourists in Turkey for 2007 was 19.4% up on 20046’s figures; testament to the country’s increasing popularity, and a reaction to the Government's continuous investment in tourism.
In 2006 it was estimated that 13,000 British people owned property in Turkey, with several thousand waiting for the completion of their property sales. Due to the increasing house prices in the UK, many savvy investors are taking the opportunity to sell up, or remortgage and invest in property overseas, and this is no different in Turkey.
